About the Role
We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic and proactive Project Management Assistant to join our Community Safety Team within the SH Wessex Route Safety Department (G1). Whether you are just beginning your journey in project management or already possess some experience, this role provides a fantastic platform for significant growth and development.
You will provide crucial support to the Community Safety Manager by delivering rail safety awareness across the Wessex route, managing key administrative responsibilities, engaging effectively with local communities, and even leading essential rail safety sessions. Ultimately, your efforts will play a vital role in keeping people safe and informed near the railway infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Specifically, your contributions will include:
- Delivering professional, consistent project support within Shared Services operations.
- Maintaining and diligently updating project plans, actions, and timelines to ensure smooth progress.
- Supporting a diverse range of safety-focused projects, from initial planning stages right through to successful delivery.
- Acting as a primary liaison with external stakeholders and internal teams, fostering effective communication.
- Handling correspondence efficiently and meticulously maintaining the school engagement database.
- Contributing actively to the “Better Day Every Day” initiative by proactively identifying and proposing improvements to processes and outcomes.
What You’ll Need
To thrive in this position, you should possess:
- Being actively working towards (or having a strong willingness to pursue) a recognized Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, APM).
- Demonstrated experience in supporting projects through to successful completion.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Robust organizational skills coupled with a proactive, self-starter attitude.
- Comfort and capability in working effectively at a senior level within complex organizational structures.
- A genuine passion for working with diverse communities and making a positive impact.
Nice to Have
While not essential, the following would be beneficial:
- Knowledge of Shared Service operations.
- Experience with ORACLE eBusiness Suite.
- A degree-level education or equivalent qualification.
