Do you possess a passion for technical excellence and brand integrity? Specifically, we seek a detail-driven Food Technologist to join our Food Services division. In this position, you provide dedicated technical support to Whitbread Premier Inn and Restaurants. You take a lead role in ensuring product safety and legal compliance. Moreover, you protect brand standards across a diverse food and beverage portfolio.

Responsibilities of a Technical Food Specialist

As a specialist on our team, you will handle several critical tasks. For example, you will:

  • Build Relationships: You build strong connections across internal teams and suppliers.

  • Expert Advice: You provide expert technical advice regularly.

  • Data Management: You manage allergy, nutritional, and lifestyle data accurately. In addition, you report against nutritional targets.

  • Validate Data: You review technical data for new products. This ensures full compliance with company guidelines.

  • Maintain Specifications: You manage robust product specifications. You ensure accuracy regarding provenance and quality standards.

  • Menu Review: You review food and drink menus for legality. You ensure accuracy across all relevant markets.

  • Investigations: You support food safety and quality investigations. This includes following up on complaints or incidents.

  • Guideline Development: You contribute to the implementation of new technical standards.

Profile of the Ideal Compliance Professional

We look for specific qualifications and traits in our candidates. Specifically, you should have:

  • Education: You hold a degree in Food Science or a related field. Equivalent experience also qualifies you.

  • Experience: You have worked in a technical function within food manufacturing or retail.

  • Legislation Knowledge: You possess strong knowledge of food labeling laws.

  • Communication: You demonstrate excellent communication and numeracy skills.

  • Technical Skills: You maintain advanced Excel skills. Similarly, you feel competent with web-based management systems.

  • Detail Oriented: You show exceptional attention to detail in every task.

  • Travel: You can travel occasionally within the UK when needed.
