Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking highly motivated engineers to join their team as a Power System Graduate Engineer. Specifically, this full-time, on-site position is based in Wokingham and supports major transmission and distribution network projects. Additionally, the role provides an excellent opportunity to work with industry specialists on advanced utility technologies.

About the Role

As a Power System Graduate Engineer, you will support projects involving SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), network modelling, and power system analysis. Furthermore, you will develop hands-on experience across state estimation, load flow analysis, contingency analysis, and utility operational applications. As a result, your technical contributions will help utilities and system operators optimize critical grid infrastructure. Consequently, your daily work will directly support reliable, sustainable power generation and transmission across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Modelling: Support the development, maintenance, and validation of electrical network models used in EMS applications. In addition, you will model assets such as substations, transformers, lines, and HVDC systems.

  • SCADA & EMS Integration: Assist with telemetry mapping, data quality assessments, topology validation, and connectivity analysis. Thus, you will ensure robust operational data management.

  • Power System Studies: Participate in load flow analysis, contingency analysis, state estimation, and stability assessments. Moreover, you will analyse engineering data to identify and resolve model anomalies.

  • Automation & Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, and IT teams. Furthermore, you will support automation initiatives using Python, MATLAB, or SQL scripting.

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential Education: A Master’s degree or PhD in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. Therefore, advanced academic backgrounds are required.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, network modelling, and power flow analysis. Additionally, familiarity with analysis tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS®E, ETAP, or MATLAB/Simulink is essential.

  • Core Competencies: Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or SQL, alongside strong problem-solving and communication skills. Furthermore, research experience in renewable integration or grid digitalization is highly advantageous.
