As a Sustainability Coordinator, you will play a key role in driving social value initiatives, ensuring that our supply chain and contractors align with our sustainability goals. You will work closely with suppliers, embedding Orbit’s social value framework and supporting our broader sustainability efforts. This is a hybrid role, allowing for a mix of remote work and office-based collaboration at one of our locations in Coventry, Stratford-upon-Avon, Hastings, or West Malling.

🛠 Key Responsibilities of the Sustainability Coordinator

As a Sustainability Coordinator, you will:

Drive Social Value Initiatives:

  • Lead the implementation and delivery of social value within Orbit’s supply chain.
  • Ensure that contractors and suppliers align with our Sustainability Strategy and Sustainable Supplier Charter.
  • Balance maximising social return on investment with achieving positive outcomes for Orbit residents.

Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Establish and strengthen relationships with suppliers, contractors, and contract managers.
  • Promote best practices in sustainability across all levels of our supply chain.
  • Act as an ambassador for Orbit’s sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with our standards.

Monitoring & Reporting on Social Value Contributions:

  • Develop and maintain frameworks to track social value delivery.
  • Collect and analyse supplier performance data, producing quarterly reports and an annual review.
  • Use recognised methodologies such as the HACT Social Value Bank or TOMS to measure impact.

Supporting Procurement & Tender Processes:

  • Assist procurement teams in evaluating social value commitments during the tendering process.
  • Participate in contractor interviews and tender scoring to ensure suppliers meet Orbit’s social value expectations.

Providing Administrative Support for Sustainability Projects:

  • Support Orbit’s environmental, energy & net-zero carbon and Geographic Information System (GIS) teams.
  • Help coordinate internal sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with company-wide strategies.

🎯 What We’re Looking For

To succeed as a Sustainability Coordinator, you should have:

Experience in Social Value & Sustainability Initiatives – Proven background in securing social value from contractors and suppliers.
Community Investment Expertise – Hands-on experience in developing and managing community partnerships.
Strong Analytical & Reporting Skills – Ability to create detailed reports on supplier performance and social value impact.
Understanding of Sustainability Frameworks – Familiarity with HACT Social Value Bank or TOMS methodologies.
Excellent Communication & Engagement Skills – Confident in working with stakeholders at all levels.
Passion for Sustainability – A genuine interest in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.
Ability to Travel – This role may require occasional travel to meet suppliers and stakeholders across the UK.
