Based at the Carriageworks Theatre, you’ll help deliver excellent public events and support the smooth operation of Leeds’ iconic venues — including Leeds Town Hall and Pudsey Civic Hall.

🎯 Your Main Responsibilities
As an Operations Assistant, you’ll play a key part in the success of events across Leeds’ performance venues. No two days are the same. One moment you might be setting up a conference space, the next supporting a community theatre production or managing access for deliveries.
You’ll be:
- Setting up venues for events, meetings, conferences, and performances
- Opening and securing buildings, setting alarms, and monitoring security
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors and staff
- Offering hands-on support to venue hirers, helping ensure events run smoothly
- Assisting with minor maintenance tasks, managing refuse, and accepting deliveries
- Responding to requests for support during events with professional customer care
- Following health & safety procedures, including emergency evacuation protocols
- Working closely with technical and programming teams to ensure seamless event delivery
- Representing the council with professionalism and a can-do attitude at all times
You’ll be expected to work across the venue portfolio, with a base at the Carriageworks Theatre. Flexibility is essential — shifts may include evenings and weekends depending on event schedules.

Day in the Life: What You Might Do
Here’s what a typical day might look like in this role:
9:00 AM: Unlock the venue and complete building checks
10:00 AM: Assist with setting up a conference room for a business seminar
12:30 PM: Help deliver a catering setup for an afternoon workshop
2:00 PM: Ensure communal areas are clean, tidy, and visitor-ready
5:30 PM: Support rehearsals for a local amateur dramatics group
9:00 PM: Lock the venue, secure equipment, and reset alarms
