About the Role

As a Logistics Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering a professional and efficient catering and logistics service across the entire University. For instance, you’ll assist with everything from ensuring food production and delivery meet high standards to supporting the day-to-day operations of our catering facilities. Your efforts will help create an exceptional experience for our students, staff, and guests.

You’ll be an integral part of a collaborative team that works flexibly across different catering areas, supporting multiple colleges and major events. Please note that the role involves some physical handling, such as lifting and transporting catering equipment, and may require occasional evening and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Delivering excellent service to students, staff, and visitors by meticulously following operational procedures.
• Assisting with the delivery, secure storage, and monitoring of catering goods and essential equipment.
• Maintaining impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards in all working areas.
• Following all health and safety guidelines, including correctly wearing protective clothing and promptly reporting hazards.
• Working effectively as part of a team to meet all operational goals and crucial deadlines.
• Using digital tools, such as email, various systems, and devices, for clear communication and effective coordination.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates:

• Good spoken and written communication skills.
• Basic numeracy, literacy, and digital skills (including using the internet and email).
• Proven experience working successfully in a team environment.
• The ability to follow instructions accurately and manage time effectively.
• A valid UK driving licence is required.

Desirable Skills:

• Level 2 Food Safety Hygiene Certificate.
• Prior experience in customer-focused environments.
• Previous work in cleaning or maintenance roles.

Working Hours

This is a full-time position, requiring 35 hours per week. Your schedule will typically involve working any 5 days out of 7, which may include some evenings or weekends. Typical working hours range from 7:00 AM – 9:30 PM.
