Are you ready to truly make a difference in the student experience? We’re excited to be recruiting a passionate General Assistant Job Opportunity in the United Kingdom to join our Residences Facilities Team. You’ll play a key part in supporting the smooth running of our Halls of Residence, ensuring students feel right at home and supported during their time here.

About the Role

As a General Assistant, you’ll be based primarily at our Wessex Lane Hub, which covers both Wessex Lane and City Gateway Halls of Residence. You’ll also work occasionally at other residential sites and our main campus. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team to keep operations running seamlessly while consistently providing excellent customer service to students and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Moving and managing furniture and equipment across various residential sites.
• Monitoring and storing stock and supplies effectively.
• Carrying out safety inspections, including crucial room checks and legionella flushing.
• Supporting post and parcel duties, and assisting with student lock-outs.
• Responding to fire alarms, and escalating and reporting issues as required.
• Providing day-to-day support as part of a small, friendly team to ensure smooth hall operations.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a candidate who brings:

• A reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic team player with a strong customer focus.
• Basic IT skills, including email use.
• A full driving licence (this is a requirement).
• A willingness to work a 36-hour week on a rotating shift pattern (8am–4pm, 9am–5pm, 10am–6pm), with occasional evening and weekend shifts during peak times (July and September).
