Role Overview: Apprentice Electrical Power Network Engineer
As an Apprentice Electrical Power Network Engineer, you will play a crucial and supportive role. You will support the development of both high-voltage and low-voltage electrical infrastructure. This infrastructure will be specifically for innovative renewable energy projects. This apprenticeship opportunity perfectly suits individuals eager to expand their technical skills. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Power Network Design Support: You will assist senior engineers in the critical tasks of designing and planning electrical power networks. This includes ensuring that all designs meet stringent technical specifications. They must also adhere to the highest safety standards.
- Installation & Commissioning: You will provide support during the installation, thorough testing, and final commissioning phases of network systems. This encompasses working with essential components. These include cabling, switchgear, and transformers. You will also work with other vital electrical infrastructure.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: You will help with the ongoing maintenance activities. You will also play a role in fault diagnosis. This ensures the efficient and safe operation of electrical power networks. This will be across various renewable energy sites.
- Network Analysis & Modelling: You will contribute to the important processes of analysing and modelling network performance. This includes assessing load flow and understanding fault conditions within the electrical systems.
- Documentation: You will assist in the preparation of detailed technical reports. You will also work on accurate maintenance logs and comprehensive project documentation. This ensures that all completed work is meticulously recorded.
- Health & Safety Compliance: You will ensure that all assigned tasks comply with relevant health and safety standards. You will maintain a consistent focus on safe working practices at all times.
- Learning & Development: You will actively engage in structured training programs. These programs are designed to build your technical knowledge and expertise. You will focus on power network engineering for renewable energy applications.
- Team Collaboration: You will work closely with senior engineers. You will also collaborate with experienced project managers and dedicated field teams. This will support the successful execution of diverse renewable energy projects.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Essential Qualifications:
- You must possess GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) in Mathematics, English Language, and Science. You need a minimum grade of C or above in each subject.
- You need to have completed a Level 3 Electrical/Engineering qualification or a comparable equivalent.
- You should have a basic yet sound understanding of fundamental electrical systems and networks. This includes both high-voltage and low-voltage infrastructure.
- Familiarity with relevant health and safety standards and regulations pertaining to electrical work would be a distinct advantage.
- Key Attributes:
- You should have a genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning. A strong desire to develop new and advanced technical skills within the field is important.
- You need to demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities. Meticulous attention to detail in all tasks undertaken is also crucial.
