Data Protection and Information Governance Officer Job in the UK!

Furthermore, this role is based at the beautiful Waterside Campus in Northampton. This is a permanent, part-time position (18.5 hours per week) that offers the chance to contribute significantly to shaping and protecting the University’s vital information governance standards.

About the Role

As a member of the University’s specialist Data Protection and Information Governance team, you will play a key role in supporting compliance across the entire organization. Your responsibilities will cover a wide spectrum of areas. Specifically, this includes assisting with data protection, freedom of information (FOI) requests, information governance strategy, and records management. You will also help shape the policies and procedures that uphold both legal and ethical standards for data use.

About You

We are seeking a candidate who brings:

  • An undergraduate qualification. 🎓

  • Relevant experience handling FOI requests and data subject access requests (DSARs).

  • Crucially, you must be eager to deepen your expertise in data protection and information governance. You should also stay up to date through continuous training and professional development.

You must be an excellent communicator who can work calmly and effectively with colleagues across the university and members of the public. In addition, you must be organized, proactive, and comfortable taking on varied tasks. You should be fully capable of working independently to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Undergraduate degree.

  • Desirable: Qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

Department Overview

You will be joining the Governance, Compliance and Risk (GCR) department. This is an essential central team responsible for governance, risk management, compliance, health and safety, data protection, and information governance. Consequently, this team leads vital initiatives across the entire University.
